Tropical Hut, a once-forgotten homegrown fast-food chain, is experiencing a new lease on life after a viral tweet unleashed a wave of nostalgia among customers who frequented them in the 1980s and 1990s, driving up sales in its branches throughout the metro.
Tropical Hut has now announced that it is hiring new store employees to keep up with the sudden influx of customers rediscovering TH favorites like its range of Filipino-style burgers.
The original poster of the now-viral tweet, stock analyst JP Tanyag (@dyumidyepee on Twitter), also announced that Tropical Hut was looking for new members of its service crew as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, social media strategist Tammy David (@tammydavid) posted a series of tweets showing a line of food delivery motorcycles outside Tropical Hut’s Makati location, with riders patiently waiting to pick up orders.
She also mentioned that the branch had to turn away diners at first because the staff was swamped with food delivery orders.
GrabFood also confirmed on social media that they were inundated with orders from the classic chain.
