Children are supposed to be children. They should just worry about homework and enjoy playing outside.
This isn’t the case for this young boy, though. Being a kid is a luxury he can’t have.
A Grade 7 student has recently gone viral, after photos of him “sleeping” have circulated through social media.
A netizen named Areane Reanoga shared on Facebook, photos of a young boy sleeping outside in the middle of the night.
Areane shares that the kid came up to them asking if he could have their chair and sit down for a while as he is tired all night selling balut.
The boy then told them he was working hard so he can have school allowance.
In addition to this, the boy also shares that he does not have a mother anymore. And that his father is sick, that’s why he’s the one working.
Furthermore, the boy said he has school the next morning. He wants to sell out his balut so he can go home and rest for a bit.
The boy is later identified as Jerahmeel Dela Cruz, or “Memeng” as his close friends call him. He lives in Paradise, Malanday in Marikina City.
Netizens can’t help but feel bad for Jerahmeel, even urging the local government to give him a scholarship at least.
According to his neighbors, he’s working really hard to support his family and school needs.
